How much do you charge for book illustrations?

Illustration packages aren't one size fits all. Both you and your story are one-of-a-kind, so you need a custom package that is unique to you! 

Authors typically invest $1,500 and above for book illustrations. Amshan Art pricing is not done on a per-page basis, but rather at a per-project rate. The total cost is dependent upon several factors (including but not limited to the number and type of illustrations, if graphic design, formatting, or book assets are needed, project timeline, etc), so pricing varies.

After an initial consultation, your manuscript will be reviewed to determine your illustration needs and a custom proposal will be drafted.

What do you charge for Digital Portraits?

Digital portraits are $55 for 1-3 figures or $75 for 4-6 figures. This is a personal usage fee for printing as wall art, gifts, etc. For commercial use, additional fees are added and are contingent upon factors like how the art will be used and the scope of usage.

What is the difference between “commercial” and “personal” use?

When purchasing a digital portrait for personal use, Amshan Art reserves all rights to the artwork and it can only be used as home or office decor and/or gifts. If purchased for commercial use, additional fees will be added. Commercial use includes using the art for the sale of goods or services (a business logo, literary works, products, promotional materials, etc). Depending on the scope, Amshan Art will either retain a portion of rights or release perpetual rights to the buyer. Perpetual usage will incur an additional fee.

I work with future and current authors whose manuscripts are complete (edited and ready to be published) and are self-publishing their books. I also work with publishing houses that have clients with completed manuscripts.

Digital Art

For digital art, I work with individuals who want to give a unique gift or need a piece to add to their home or office. I also work with business owners and companies who want to make a lasting impression on current and potential customers/clients.

For book illustration, please keep in mind that children’s books are typically 32 pages long and can take 3-6 months to complete.
